Too much advice

I recently read Julian Shapiro's excellent post on Starting Principles. I agree with the premise that there is too much advice overload on the internet if you are into that kind of thing and it's difficult to actually implement or even remember all kind of things you read.

I am partly trying to fix it in Savory by implementing Spaced Repetition but this post is specifically about solidifying what I want my guiding principles for my lifestyle to be.

Starting Principles

Julian's post talks about coming up with a set of six tactical advices that you constantly and quickly use to make decisions in any life situation that may come up. He refers to them as starting principles.

These principles need not be set in stone. As you come across new advice in the wild, you should try to rank it within your existing principles and only if you think the new advice is better than at-least one of them should you swap it in.

How I think about it?

Julian's post sent me down a journey to reflect into myself. I too have a lot of advice articles stashed in my Savory collection. I have not come up with my starting principles in this post; instead I have tried to distill various mental models based on my experiences and observing the systems and humans around me to write down my own personal values system.
